Silver Lake is a mere hop of 5 miles north of Downtown L.A. and 17 miles northeast of LAX. This L.A. suburb is bordered to the southeast by Echo Park, to the southwest by Westlake and to the west by East Hollywood. Los Feliz is situated to its north.
The L.A. suburb of Silver Lake was once called Ivanhoe by a Scottish resident but changed its name to honor the city reservoir around which the district was built and which continues to dominate (and offer respite to) the community to this day. Silver Lake has long been distinct for its urbane lifestyle and many notable, famous residents.
